Titans vs Panthers

Titans vs Panthers : When the Carolina Panthers vs Tennessee Titans initial point spread dropped earlier in the week the Panthers were favored by four points. I wondered at the time if like many of us bettors were thinking quarterback Cam Newton might get back on the field. Combine that with a bounce back game by the defense and four points seemed like a good bet. This is one week it would have paid off to wait to see what the line does.

Once it was announced Newton is not playing I wondered if the line might narrow. Wonder no more. I know half a point doesn’t seem like much but to state the obvious a four point win is much more likely than five or more points. While the narrowing of the point spread was not surprising the change int he over/under was. You would think Newton’s announcement would cause the over/under to decrease but instead it increased half a point. I’m not sure I understand why that is but I will take it. That is because I took the over on the point total this week rather than bet on the point spread.

So how about you? Are you feeling a bounce back game this week Panthers fans?

I think this is a critical game for the Panthers. We remember what happened to the Panthers after a blow out loss the Pittsburgh Steelers in game nine of last season. They proceeded to lose seven straight games. Let’s just nip that notion of deja vu in the bud right now.

We are officially at the halfway point of the NFL season as the calendar flips into November with the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers still the only unbeaten teams in the league. The 49ers answered the challenge with a dominating win over the Carolina Panthers last week and the Patriots will get their turn this week against the Baltimore Ravens on “Sunday Night Football.”

The Patriots are facing one of the league’s most dynamic quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson, who has completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 1,650 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions for a 94.1 rating. He also has 83 carries for 576 yards and three touchdowns, leading the NFL with 6.9 yards per carry. Jackson, an MVP candidate, is tied with Michael Vick (2004) and Russell Wilson (2014) for the most 100-yard passing and 100-yard rushing games in a season in league history, and it took Jackson just seven games to do it. Not to mention he’s coming off a bye, so the Patriots will see a fresh Jackson in their first true test of the season.

The Patriots-Ravens game is arguably the best game on the Week 9 slate. Here are this week’s picks as the second half of the season gets underway:

This NFL session for the Jaguars are not good in the starting, they lost back to back battles against the Chiefs, Texans Panthers and Saints as well.

But they get their form back against the Titans, the Broncos, the Bengals and Jets. With these wins, they bring their win to loss ratio to 4-4.

It’s Week 9 of the NFL season and by now we all know what our yearly teams are made of. That’s why I’ll be investing heavily in DFS. But as the great Bon Jovi once said, “Woah, we’re half way there/Woah, livin’ on a prayer.” But I don’t have any Christian McCaffrey shares to take my hand in yearly, so if you want to play him if DFS, you definitely need some bargains to go with.

Quarterback
Kyle Allen, vs. TEN
DraftKings: $5,200|FanDuel: $6,800

Allen’s game against the 49ers was pretty pitiful but was also his first loss of the season. While McCaffrey is no doubt the Panthers’ team Allen does have to throw him the ball every once in a while. Along with that the Panthers’ fairer much better against the 4-4 Titans than the undefeated 49ers.

Running Backs
Melvin Gordon III, vs. GB
DraftKings: $5,000|FanDuel: $6,300

This one is for my fellow DraftKings player because there’s no reason Gordon should be $5,000 against the Green Bay rushing defense. In this game, the Chargers should lean on the run with a new face calling the offensive plays it should be a much simpler offense. Also, when it comes to the Chargers offense it has had a pattern of Austin Eckler catching the ball, and Gordon running the ball. Even if you ignore all this, Gordon is only $5,000 and that is by far a bargain and a half.
